Hague MUN

Twelve Anatolia students participated in The Hague Model United Nations. As usual, the five-day conference took place at The Hague World Forum Convention Center and hosted nearly 3,000 delegates from all over the world. Delegates hit the ground running and didn't stop until the end. This year Anatolia was honored by having 2 members on the coveted Security Council and our delegates performed beautifully. Overall, the delegates found the conference to be well organized and of high academic standards. Delegates also had a special opportunity to watch a documentary about the Rwandan war crimes tribunal and ask questions to the visiting director of the documentary and the prosecuting lawyer on the case.  Of course, it wasn't all just work, work, work. Anatolia delegates spent their afternoons and evenings perusing the brick streets of The Hague, shopping in the quaint boutiques, and eating at a wide variety of restaurants. Certainly the day trip to Amsterdam was a main highlight. Delegates didn't let the cold and wet weather deter them from exploring the world renowned Van Gogh museum and shopping the main strips. Overall, the Anatolia delegation represented our school wonderfully, especially considering the uncertainty that surrounded our preparations amidst the Paris tragedy. Our delegates would like to thank all the parents and staff that helped make this year's THIMUN another success.
