| ANATOLIA SUPPORTS THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD SUMMER GAMES ATHENS 2011
Dear friends,
With the support of the State, Greece has attained the honor of hosting the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games from June 20 to July 4, 2011 in Athens. 7,500 athletes with mental disability from 185 countries, 2,500 coaches, 3,000 officials and technical staff and 25,000 volunteers will take part in the event. It is also estimated that 40,000 family members will gather in Greece from every corner of the planet to applaud willpower and strength of these athletes by competing in and promoting a framework of respect and acceptance.
3,000 Mass Media representatives from all over the world will record the triumphant moments, promoting the abilities of these special athletes. Along with the sports activities, special programs aiming at the sensitization of the public and the education of youth on issues related to the incorporation of the “different” in the everyday activities of our society will also take place. Those programs will be implemented thanks to the contribution of worldwide personalities, while 13 Goodwill Ambassadors from the Media have already undertaken the promotion of the Games’ message. The campaign will be conducted under the auspices of His Excellency, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias.
