International Baccalaureate (IB)

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a two-year program that corresponds to the 11th and 12th grade Lykeion and prepares students for entry to the best universities all over the world. Students are able to enter the IB program upon completion of the 10th grade (1st grade Lykeion). The IB Diploma is also fully equivalent to the Greek high school diploma (Law 2327, 1995).

The IB program is taught in English, French or Spanish in 138 countries, and it is offered by 2057 authorized schools worldwide. Anatolia College introduced the program in 1998, and Anatolia's graduating students have been accepted at universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Brown, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Northwestern and others in the U.S.A;  Cambridge, UCL (University College London), Imperial College, York, Bath, Warwick, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Great Britain; the Sorbonne in France; Bocconi and La Sapienza in Italy.

The IB program at Anatolia is open to students from all schools and nationalities provided they have an adequate command of the English language, are motivated and ready to adopt the disciplined work habits required by the IB curriculum. Students from Albania, Britain, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, FYROM, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, and the U.S. have enrolled in the program in recent years, as well as Greek students.

Why IB?

The IB Diploma is a program suitable for those who have decided to continue their studies abroad i.e. in a European or a US university. It balances breadth of knowledge with specialization and equips students with the critical skills needed for success in higher education. It helps students develop their time management skills and their ability to critically analyze information, which are great assets later on at college.

The International Baccalaureate is a flexible program. Students select subjects from within six subject groups. They also select the level (Higher or Standard) at which they want to study each subject. This enables them to create a personalized program of studies based on their current interests and their objectives for the future.

Since the IB is a common worldwide curriculum, it enables internationally mobile students to transfer from one IB school to another with relative ease and a minimum loss of continuity.
