General Information

Recognizing the importance of independent research and learning, as part of the academic program, Anatolia College provides a library for the use of students, faculty and staff members but for the broader public as well. The first library of Anatolia was founded in 1924. In fact, the current library still maintains a special collection of monographs brought from Asia Minor when the school moved to Thessaloniki.

The current library, named after its donors, Socrates Eleftheriades and Olga Mavrophidou-Eleftheriades, opened in 1989 replacing the library which was located in the Kirides Science Building.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni of Anatolia are the primary users of this library which aims at the provision of materials, equipment and training for its students, faculty and staff in order to enable them to satisfy their academic and personal informational and recreational reading needs. Members of the general public are welcome to use the library.

The Anatolia College Library shares an integrated library management system with the Bissell library of the American College of Thessaloniki. Access to both collections is available through the web-based Horizon Information Portal.

History Summary of the Eleftheriades Library

The Library Express

The “Library Express” is a twice-a-year newsletter entirely written and published by the “Eleftheriades” Library-club students.  The first issue of Library Express was published in February 1994.  The publication contains book and film reviews, Reportage on Anatolia School trips, Forensics & MUN tournaments, Athletics events, Arts & Theatre events, Environmental issues and reports on Technological developments and concerns.  The students/reporters use the “Eleftheriades” Library facilities to research, write, & edit the Newsletter, under the supervision of club advisors, librarians Ms. Voula Tantanozi & Ms. Georgia Konstantinidou.  “Student services”, the office responsible for clubs at Anatolia, supports the hard copy publishing.
