Dear Parents, Students, and Friends: Welcome to Anatolia College. Anatolia is a non-profit educational institution with a long and prestigious history dating to its founding in 1886 by American missionaries in Merzifon, Asia Minor. Anatolia relocated to Thessaloniki in 1924, after the catastrophic events in Asia Minor at the invitation of then Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos and moved to its current 45 acre campus in Pylaia, in the northeastern suburbs of Thessaloniki in 1934. Our ambition and objective is to provide youngsters with not only the requisite academic training but to also instill a strong sense of social responsibility and a love for culture to our students. We give significant emphasis to the development of our students’ personalities as an essential part of their preparation to lead constructive lives and to prepare them to serve their fellow man, their community, and society at large. Beyond academics, Anatolia’s students are taught to serve higher moral values, perform their duties conscientiously and with discipline, claim their rights but similarly respect others’ rights, appreciate the arts, music and sports, develop their talents, enhance their self-esteem and become aware of their skills and abilities. With hand-picked teachers, a solid administrative structure, and a modern infrastructure, Anatolia College consistently provides the highest quality education and prepares its graduates to achieve and succeed in their university and post-graduate studies at some of the best colleges and universities in Greece, the U.S., the U.K. and beyond as well as to become leading figures in their chosen professions. Today, Anatolia educates youth from the earliest age through undergraduate and post-graduate studies as well as adults through continuing education programs. The institution covers the gamut with its 3 “divisions” that include Kindergarten and Elementary, Gymnasio and Lykeio (Junior High and High School), an International Baccalaureate program that prepares students to study abroad, and the American college of Thessaloniki, an accredited American college that offers Bachelor and Master degree programs in various disciplines. More than 1,600 students attend Anatolia College each year. All have access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities offered by the school that foster teamwork, but also individual talent, encourage initiative, and enhance the development of leadership skills and confidence in one’s self. Dear Friends: We are all proud of our contributions to our students’ education and development and take the most pride at their life and career successes. But, we also acknowledge the great responsibility that comes with our successes to date, to continue the brilliant educational tradition of Anatolia. We hope you’ll find your visit to our website useful and informative and that you’ll come to appreciate the invaluable contributions Anatolia can make to its students, parents and to society at large.
